T2 - Exclusive Featurette

Trainspotting sequel T2 is a week away from release and fans of Danny Boyle's 1996 original are increasingly anticipating the opportunity to catch up with Renton, Begbie and the gang.

The film's original stars - Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Ewen Bremner and Jonny Lee Miller - are all returning and in this exclusive clip, you can see them expressing how they wouldn't have returned if the project had moved ahead without Boyle.

Boyle himself can be seen acknowledging the original's success: "People have quite an intense relationship with it. They've kind of been marked by it" he says before describing it as a "privilege."

The sequel, which was filmed in Edinburgh throughout the year, will be based on author Irvine Welsh's sequel Porno which was released in 2002; Welsh himself believes a second sequel could be made focusing on Carlyle's character, Begbie.

Trainspotting followed a group of heroin addicts residing in Edinburgh during the late Eighties.

T2 Trainspotting hits cinemas on 27 January 2017 with a soundtrack that blends the old and new.
