Already, the next instalment in the Transformers series sounds entirely bonkers. From the artwork alone, the film looks set to be going on a tangent from previous films in the series - considering Anthony Hopkins is also on board, hopefully, this is a good thing.

A report by Mashable has once again hinted Transformers: The Last Knight could be a bizarre affair. According to the publication, King Arthur actor Liam Garrigan will star in the film as, well, King Arthur.

The actor previously appeared as the British knight in the TV series Once Upon a Time, making Michael Bay’s choice either entirely inspired or the report slightly baffling.

What’s slightly odder is that The Last Knight is set in the present day, meaning King Arthur - and reportedly Merlin as well - will most likely feature in a flashback; did Optimus visited them in the Middle-Ages?

Perhaps this could all be set up for a period-Transformers film? After all, Hasbro has said they are planning Transformers six, seven, and eight to follow in the near future.

Transformers: The Last Knight reaches cinemas 23 June 2017.
