The Transformers franchise is onto its fifth instalment with its upcoming entry The Last Knight being released in June. It's time to prepare yourself for more: Michael Bay has confirmed plans to bring a whopping 14 new 'stories' to screen.

Director Bay revealed the news in a video he pre-recorded for a Last Knight preview which took place at London's Cineworld IMAX at Leicester Square on Tuesday evening (4 April).

He elaborated that the ideas had been outlined in the writer's room during a development process designed to "lay the groundwork for the future of the series," reports Yahoo! Movies.

It's expected that these tales will include sequels as well as spin-offs such as the dedicated Bumblebee film which is set to be directed by Travis Knight (the filmmaker behind Laika hit Kubo and the Two Strings).

In the meantime, The Last Knight will be Bay's final Transformers films - a fact he rehashed at the event - but the director assured fans he was going out on a high.

The fifth film in Bay's money-making franchise sees Mark Wahlberg return as Cade Yeager alongside returning cast members Stanley Tucci and John Goodman as well as new additions Anthony Hopkins and Laura Haddock.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be released 23 June.
