Director Oliver Stone's anticipated Wall Street sequel to the 1987 film was scheduled for an April 23 release in the US but has now been pushed back - but the next open slot is September 24.

Instead of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps battling a busy box office schedule, the studio and producers are opting to delay the film in hopes of making the competition at the Cannes Film Festival, May 12-23, to set up a big international launch.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps brings back Michael Douglas in the role of Gordon Gekko, Josh Brolin and Shia LaBeouf, a trainee and the fiancé of Gekko's daughter, played by Oscar-nominee Carey Mulligan from An Education.

The thriller follows up on the disgraced corporate raider exiting prison after 20 years, trying to alert the financial community of the imminent doom, and uncover the cause of a suspicious death.
