A selection of film events around the world November 3-6 include international releases for
Paranormal Activity and film festivals in New York City, Germany, Taiwan and London.

Paranormal Activity around the world this week
November 5, 2009 marks the release of Paranormal Activity worldwide. Greece and Russia kick off the international release Singapore following on November 12, Germany on November 19, Spain and UK on November 27.
French and Australian cinemas will have to wait for a December 2 and 3 release, while Italy will screens the movie early February 2010.

Big Apple Film Festival

The 6th annual Big Apple Film Festival supports independent films and emerging talent from the metropolitan New York area, with November 3-7. Among the many top-flight film fests in Manhattan and across the country, it was chosen as one of top 25 "coolest" film festivals in MovieMaker magazine. The NY 2009 Emerging Talent Awards ceremony on Saturday night recognizes actors Zoe Lister-Jones in All Good Things, with Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst and Frank Langella, and Aaron Stanford, who appears in How I Got Lost, an official selection of the 2009 Big Apple Film Festival. Last year's winner, Jesse Eisenberg, had an impressive year as director of Advertureland and the early Halloween hit comedy, Zombieland.

American Film Market
November 4-11

The 30th annual AFM (November 4-11)will screen 455 films for the consideration of distributors and exhibitors around the world. With 8,000 attendees from 70 countries, film buyers and producers meet and greet to buy and sell at this insider event. The largest forum for independent filmmakers, not affiliated with the major studios, the expanding industry is able to access bigger stars and venture into new avenues on cable television and international markets.
With more than 5,000 films from the catalogue under consideration for distribution, in pre-production through to completion, there will be 400 films screened.

58th International Mannheim- Heidelberg film festival

The 58th edition of the Mannheim- Heidelberg international film festival will honor Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan with the "Master of Cinema" award at the ceremony on November 6. Twenty-five movies from 21 different countries will premier this year at the festival that focuses on newomers, in eight categories including "1945 in Germany" and "Children's Cinema."

Golden Horse Film Festival/Golden Horse Film Awards
November 5-28
Taipei, Taiwan

The Chinese film industry's largest gathering and goes hand in hand with its most prestigious awards ceremony (which dates back to 1962). The festival spreads out over almost a month and features 200 feature films, documentaries, shorts and animated productions from around the world - and it all leads to the Golden Horse Awards on November 28.

American Indian Film Festival
November 6-14
San Francisco/USA
The 34th annual American Indian Film Festival in San Francisco is scheduled during National American Indian/Native Alaskan Heritage Month, which celebrates the culture of the "First Peoples" in America. Screenings of 80 new features, documentaries, shorts, music videos, and public service announcements created by US American Indian and Canada First Nation communities culminate in an awards night at the Palace of Fine Arts. The American Indian Film Institute also shows films from the Tribal Youth Touring Program.

BFM International Film Festival

Black Filmmaker (bfm) International Film Festival, established in 1998, showcases films about the experience and culture of African people around the world. The festival features narratives, documentaries and short films from the UK, Africa, the Caribbean, the US, Canada and Europe. This year, the festival opens with the European premier of Chris Rock's Good Hair and will end with the Shorts Awards.
