Despite being snubbed from this year’s Oscars, David Oyelowo will present an award at the ceremony.

The actor, who missed out on a nomination for his uncanny portrayal of Martin Luther King in Selma, will present an award alongside Jennifer Aniston, Sienna Miller, Chris Pratt, John Travolta and Kerry Washington.

It has yet to be confirmed which category the British actor will present, although it is unlikely to be the Best Actor award.

Selma has been nominated for two awards at the Oscars this year, including Best Picture and Best Original Song. But its lack of nominations in other categories such as Best Actor and Best Director for Ava DuVernay has led to criticism.

The Oscars have been dubbed the “whitest since 1998” after no actor of ethnic heritage was nominated in any of the four acting categories.

Jennifer Aniston was thought to be in line for a Best Actress nomination after the distribution company of her latest film Cake pulled the release date forward in the US so it could qualify for a nomination.

Fellow presenter Sienna Miller starred in two Oscar-nominated films this year, as the wife of Chris Kyle in American Sniper and the wife of Mark Ruffalo’s character in Foxcatcher.

The 87th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday 22 February at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
