Brothers of the Head (15)

(Rated 3/ 5 )

By Anthony Quinn

It's no Dead Ringers, but you may still be disconcerted by this rough-edged mockumentary about doomed twinhood. It purports to relate the untold story of a 1970s proto-punk group, the Bang Bang, whose teenage frontmen Tom and Barry Howe were conjoined twins (played by real, though not conjoined, twins Harry and Luke Treadaway). The circumstantial details of their brief fame feel convincing, right down to the interview with Ken Russell. The enforced symbiosis between the twins, and the realisation of fatal differences in their character, gather the momentum of tragedy. What lets it down is the music, which thrashes and flails without charm or excitement.
