Here's a real puzzler. This farce, made three years ago in the UK, was a dead dog, but Hollywood has bafflingly resuscitated it, with different fleas.
The laboured slapstick over corpses, coffins, drugs and toilets is delivered intact, only this time the mourners are an affluent black family whose members include Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, Loretta Devine, Danny Glover and – two of the unfunniest comedians alive – Tracy Morgan and Martin Lawrence. Poor Peter Dinklage, having played the gay dwarf in the original, is the only one to endure the hell of a second go-round. How Neil LaBute ended up directing it is between him and his accountant, though for the sake of his career he should be wary of films with "death" and "funeral" in the title.Reuse content
