Driving Lessons (15)
A ribald turn by Julie Walters is the saving grace of this otherwise underwhelming comedy. Rupert Grint, aka Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, plays browbeaten Ben, torn between his tyrannical Christian mother (Laura Linney) and the eccentric retired actress (Walters) for whom he works as a home help. The title refers to the boy's long-distance jaunts in the old thesp's car, which in turn lead to his emancipation and the showdown between the two women for his affections. There is some light religious satire, but the jokes here at the expense of the pious baddies are twee beyond belief.
