A star-studded cast grace this poorly scripted Untouchables rip-off, set in late-1940s LA.

Josh Brolin's brutish detective, John O'Mara, is tasked with taking down one-dimensional hoodlum Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn, doing his umpteenth Robert De Niro impression) with a small squad of brave coppers (including Ryan Gosling's smoothie, below, and Giovanni Ribisi's nerd). This predictable tale has momentum and the period detail is pretty – but it's nowhere near as compelling as an episode of Boardwalk Empire.
