DVD: Another Earth

Sci-fi gets lo-fi in this Sundance-calibrated study of grief and guilt buttressed with cosmic concerns.

A teenager nearly wipes out a whole family in a car accident; four years on, a hazardous attempt at reconcilation with the lone survivor is literally overshadowed by the discovery of a parallel planet. It's woozily affecting, though unlucky to come so soon after superior planet/navel-gazing hybrid Melancholia.
