They had tiny budgets with zero special effects, and yet these three slices of BBC2 horror from 1972 are creepier than the majority of modern chillers. The standout is "The Exorcism", in which four well-heeled pals gather for a Christmas dinner in a remote cottage and discover that their expensive burgundy tastes of blood and the power has been cut. It's amazing what could be achieved with a few judicious camera angles and close-ups.
