Logic be damned in Steven Knight's crime drama, which starts with Jason Statham, sporting scraggly hair and beard, as a homeless, alcoholic former Gulf-War soldier being duffed up by lowlifes. This is an acting departure for Statham – but it doesn't last long before he's back in hardnut mode once again. His “Crazy Joe” breaks into a conveniently empty luxury pad, has a shave, dons a sharp suit and promptly joins a Triad gang in Chinatown as their violent enforcer. Oh, and he fancies an abused nun. Some decent staging masks a messy, absurd film.
