Russell Brand is a mediocre actor. Not revelatory. However, he doesn't make up for it with requisite charm, like, say, Dudley Moore could.
Here, the tiresomely hirsute "comic" replicates his role of narcissistic rocker Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Snow's number one fan is a record company intern, Aaron (Jonah Hill), who is eager to resurrect Snow's career with a comeback gig. Snow's star has been plunging and he's become a washed-up drug fiend, so Aaron has his work cut out getting him to the Greek theatre show. It's a horrible film about awful people doing dreadful things. And it's misogynistic, too.
