DVD: Hancock, Retail & Rental, Sony Pictures
Will Smith stars as an unshaven, alcoholic superhero who's redeemed by a PR guru, Jason Bateman, and his wife, Charlize Theron.
It sounds like a glossy summer blockbuster, but 'Hancock' is a sly, subversive satire with the mood of an indie drama and the wobbly guerrilla camera style of 'The Bourne Ultimatum'. Its second half, though, is where it gets really strange. It's a flawed film, with more ideas than it knows what to do with, but it's guaranteed a cult following.
