This summer's second most acclaimed superhero blockbuster stars Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, playboy industrialist turned one-man weapon of mass destruction.

He's not the most obvious casting, but, like Johnny Depp in 'Pirates of the Caribbean', he injects a mainstream movie with his offbeat indie cool. 'Iron Man' is enjoyably snappy, unpatronising entertainment, but it never quite gets going. It's really a scene-setting pilot episode, or a very expensive trailer for 'Iron Man 2'.
