DVD: Surrogates, For retail & rental (Walt Disney)

This cracking sci-fi thriller starring Bruce Willis is set in a future where everyone stays at home and sends robotic duplicates out and about in their place.

It doesn't quite have the scale or the vision to match its closest antecedents, Blade Runner and The Matrix, but it has tremendous fun examining how such androids would affect every aspect of society – from police work to sports – without ever slowing the pace of what is essentially a taut, hard-boiled detective yarn.
