Restore your faith in humanity with this stupendous adaptation of Harper Lee's masterpiece.
Gregory Peck is perfect as Atticus Finch, the decent lawyer who defends a black man wrongly accused of raping a white woman in 1930s Maycomb, Alabama. Meanwhile, Atticus's two young children, smart Scout (Mary Badham) and brother Jem (Phillip Alford), play on the dusty, hot streets of this "tired old town", making friends with new neighbour Dill, a verbose child, and obsessing about the reclusive Boo Radley down the road. The moment when Boo (Robert Duvall) finally emerges from the shadows after Scout says, "Hey, Boo", is just heartbreaking.
