The BBC's much heralded adaptation of Henning Mankell's humourless crime novels continues to be slickly made and nicely acted, but the actual plots are not terribly compelling
However, Kenneth Branagh acts his socks off as the thoughtful cop whose cases are a ferry murder, a mafia slaying and a missing woman in this bleak, unforgiving Swedish landscape. There's much style over substance in this overrated detective drama, and The Bridge, for instance, is much more fun.
