This year alone, there have been documentaries about Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, St Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum and London’s National Gallery.
Now, we have a film about Vienna’s celebrated Kunsthistorisches Museum, which is undergoing renovations and facing cutbacks. In its own quiet, slow-burning way, the film is absorbing.
Like the other recent museum documentaries, it offers us perspectives and insights that no normal visitor to the galleries would ever receive.
