Unbranded, film review: A magnificently-shot but uneven documentary
(15) Phillip Baribeau, 105 mins
Wild horses make wonderfully photogenic subjects. Phillip Baribeau's feature documentary follows four young cowboys who take some mustangs on an epic journey through the rugged West.
The film has plenty of magnificently shot footage of the horses galloping across the landscapes.
This, though, is an uneven film in which the talking-head reflections on land management and preservation of wild horses sit very uncomfortably next to poetic moments which look as if they've been taken from an old Howard Hawks Western.
