'Toy Story 3' finishes on top worldwide

Toy Story 3 took the number one spot at the box office around the world this weekend, earning $62 million in 43 countries. The animated feature enjoyed a record opening of $30.6 million in the UK. This brings the total worldwide figure for the 3D film to $730.5 million.
Coming in second place was the sci-fi thriller Inception with more than $56 million in 38 countries. The Christopher Nolan ( The Dark Knight) film starring Leonardo DiCaprio won the top spot for the second week in North America as well as Japan, France, Russia, and Australia ($6.4 million from 413 situations). It opens in 13 more countries this coming weekend including Germany and Hong Kong.
Shrek Forever After in 3D slipped from the top spot to third over the weekend in 57 markets. In fourth place, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse delivered $20 million with the number one position in Germany. Next in line are action films Knight and Day, The Karate Kid, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice which is opening slowly around the world.
Director M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender fantasy adventure opened at number one in Turkey and the Philippines. It premieres in France and several more countries this week.
The number two film in the US, Angelina Jolie's Salt, opened in only 17 countries and earned a total of $5.1 million internationally. The spy thriller debuted at the top in Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and took second place in India. Next weekend it releases in Brazil, Japan, Korea and Russia.
