Celebrating its 25th year, WonderCon, set for April 1-3 at San Francisco's Moscone Center, is a comic book conference offering a preview of of the largest annual event Comic-Con.

Originally named the Wonderful World of Comics, WonderCom was bought by Comic-Con in 2002.

DC Comics will showcase its first take on Green Lantern with its star Ryan Reynolds ( The Proposal), who portrays Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, making an appearance with co-stars Blake Lively ( The Town) and Peter Sarsgaard ( An Education) for a panel discussion.

A Warner Bros. press release states the Green Lantern team's presence will be felt all weekend as the company's other divisions unveil the animated film Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, a comic book for the new War of the Green Lanterns series, and the chance to play the Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters video game.

The film releases June 17. The story follows Hal Jordan, a pilot who is presented with a mystical green ring that bestows powers and membership into an intergalactic peace-keeping squadron, who must face an ancient enemy.

Attendees will also get a look at the epic Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh ( The Fall), about the Greek warrior Theseus, who battles for the future of humanity. Footage will premiere, and fellow members of the cast will be present for a panel.

Mickey Rourke ( Iron Man 2) plays the brutal King Hyperion and Freida Pinto ( Slumdog Millionaire) plays Phaedra. The film is scheduled to open November 11.

The event will also feature other upcoming Hollywood films as well as guest artists and writers of comic books such as Batman, Wonder Woman and Wolverine.

Anime, an art gallery and masquerade, common features of other comic book events, will also be included in the festivities.

WonderCon is not quite the phenomenon of the ComicC-on event in San Diego in July, which is sold-out. Tickets for WonderCon are available, with a three-day pass at $40 for adults and $20 for juniors or seniors, and one-day tickets available at half that rate.
