DRY WHITES UNDER pounds 3
**1991 Glenloth Coonwarra Dry White ( pounds 2.99 Oddbins) This was one of the best-value wines I tasted this month. Made from the Riesling grape in the dry, citrussy American style.
*1991 Niersteiner Spiegelberg Kabinett, Muller ( pounds 2.99 Somerfield and Gateway) Good value, crisp, light, honeyed German wine.
*1990 Bairrada Branco, Sogrape ( pounds 2.99 Tesco) Crisp, lemony Portuguese wine.
REDS UNDER pounds 3
*Leziria, Vino de Mesa Tinto ( pounds 1.99 Food Giant and Oddbins, pounds 2.35 Somerfield and Gateway, pounds 2.39 Victoria Wine) Stunning value, strawberry and cherry-fruity with a little tannin and good body.
*D'Aguilar Corbieres ( pounds 1.99 Tesco) Very good for the price, firmly tannic and strawberry-fruity, needs food.
*Sainsbury's 1991 La Mancha, Castillo de Alhambra Tinto Cencibel ( pounds 2.99) Another good red that needs food to soften its tannin.
