GARDENING / Planting Techniques
HERBACEOUS PERENNIALS
Trim away dead or damaged roots and shoots, pull out any weeds from within the clump and dust the planting hole with bonemeal.
BARE-ROOTED PLANTS
Use a hole at least 10cm wider than the roots' spread; arrange carefully and firm around with peat and bonemeal or planting mix.
CONTAINER-GROWN PLANTS
Knock from container, gently tease out the roots at the edges and firm around with peat and bonemeal or a proprietary planting mix.
