London to Brighton Veteran Car Run

Hyde Park Corner, W2 (01753 681736) tomorrow, starts 7.30am, free

More than a million people are expected to line the route (right) this year, with more than 450 pre-1905 cars taking part. The cars will leave London via the A23, driving through Lambeth, Thornton Heath and Croydon, before calling at The George Hotel in Crawley for a coffee break.

Discover Dogs

Earl's Court 2, SW5 (0870 904 0600) today and tomorrow, 10am-6pm, adults pounds 7.50, children pounds 4.50

Terrier racing and Heelwork to Music are two of the unusual displays on offer at this Kennel Club-organised family event, which will feature 170 different breeds - including hairless dogs.

Art and Music

Courtauld Gallery, The Strand, WC2 (0171-848 2922) today, 11am, free for children and one accompanying adult

The gallery offers free children's activities on the first Saturday of every month. This weekend, after a tour of the gallery, music associated with some of the paintings will be played. Suitable for six- to 12-year-olds. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
