In Brief
Sir: Michel Tasse's detour from Toronto to Montreal via London (report, 28 June) is, perhaps, not a record. On 11 February 1993 I was travelling with a group of parishioners out to Addis Ababa, via Frankfurt and Cairo. Somewhere over the Alps we were hijacked to Hanover and New York. After a break to recuperate we finally made it to Addis, via Jeddah. No doubt there are more outlandish detours in the history of aviation, but I have heard of no more exciting church outing.
