Sir: If you can't do the time don't do the crime. I was an inmate of Wormwood Scrubs in 1996-97 ("Scandal of `rotten and evil' Scrubs", 29 June). The prison officers have to deal with a bunch of idiots like I used to be and control an overcrowded jail. The only violence or racism that I saw was on the part of the inmates.
