Sir: Your readers would be wise to know that the Alpha Initiative is not a recruitment drive authorised by the Anglican Church. It is simply an initiative by those members of the Evangelical wing of the Church of England and those churches associated with the use of this course who have paid for an advertising campaign which has caught the media's attention. Such dangerous right-wing "success theology" as is espoused by this course is not representative of Anglican theology or that of the Church as a whole.
