Letter: Fixing the lists

Sir: Voltaire said, in defence of free speech: "I detest what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." With regard to the House of Lords and closed lists, I find myself adapting Voltaire's view. I love what they say, but I detest that they have the right to say it.
