Sir: The nonsensical ecohype whipped up by Greenpeace and others over GM crops is going to cost Britain dear, not only by losing jobs and investment but also by preventing Britain from playing its full role in the development of technologies essential to keep human beings ahead of environmental change, population growth, pests and diseases ("Britain may lose top GM product", 8 September). The idea that the protesters hold the moral high ground is a gross distortion of the truth.
