Sir: It's not that the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police is paid too little, but rather that news readers earn too much ("The real causes of crime may be easier to fathom than we reckon", 27 August). If top salaries were taxed more fairly, more worthy occupations such as the police, teachers and nurses could be paid more fairly.
