Letter: In Brief
Sir: We are conditioned to arrange the last seven digits of our telephone and fax numbers in a group of three followed by a group of four.
I know I am not alone in all too frequently getting an earache when inadvertently telephoning a company's fax number.
This is because the fax number is indistinguishable from a phone number.
If everyone arranged their fax number's last digits in a group of four followed by a group of three, I am willing to wager that none of us would ever phone a fax again.
