Sir: Has Colin Welland spent too much time with the union toffs at Twickers ("Hard. Honest. Beautiful", 1 May)? Has he not seen what the southern marketing ponces have done to God's own game? Cheerleaders, numbers whitewashed on the pitch, daft names and silly buggers running on waving soft drinks. I can picture the scene at Hull in the early Sixties, and one of these Herberts with the soft drinks approaching the infamous Drake twins. A team of surgeons would have needed a fortnight's overtime removing the bottle and the crate it came in.
