Letter: In Brief
Sir: I wish to protest at the pounds 11.2m spent on repairing and gilding the Albert Memorial in London.
It was quite attractive in white marble and the gilding is just expensive ostentation.
The royal family should have paid for their relative's repairs. All the homeless people in the city could have been supplied with a hostel home for the same money. Far more useful.
