Letter: In the party lists
Sir: I really can't understand the fuss about the Euro-elections voting system. Under first-past-the-post, you get a choice of one person per party, chosen by local party officials (or Millbank in the case of Labour). About 50-60 per cent of these votes are always wasted. In the new system, candidates are still chosen by the parties, but virtually every vote is valuable. I would call that a step in the right direction.
