Letter: No offence intended
Sir: Many thanks to Judge David Pearl for his guidance and desire for a well educated judiciary ("Anti-racist rules for judges", 13 September). It is not often that we hear someone of his standing recognising that "offence without intending to offend can be given as a result of a false name", whilst going on to mix up Mohammed (the Prophet) and Allah (Arabic for God). As for Muslims appearing "slow, unintelligent or difficult" because of fasting during Ramadhan, what is the Judicial Studies Board's excuse?
