Letter: Passports to chaos
Sir: Passports have largely been in use since the First World War in order that nation states may corral their subjects. Since the European Union countries have agreed that their citizens do not require them, the Home Secretary's insistence on these outdated things for travel to Europe is ridiculous. They impede no determined terrorist and no serious criminal and should be abandoned forthwith.
