Letter: Pensioners' rally
Sir: The sight of thousands of pensioners, many in wheelchairs, compelled to take to the streets of London in protest at the parsimonious state pension - among the lowest in Europe and decreasing in value year on year - should have made the Prime Minister, Government and Members of Parliament ashamed.
Our country must also have been shamed in the eyes of the foreign visitors who witnessed it - shamed by the broken election promises and ensuing poverty that brought the pensioners there.
