Letter: Too kind to Castro
Sir: Ken Livingstone's use of the word "defections" reveals an unfortunate mind-set. I once heard the great Cuban jazz musician Arturo Sandoval say this his decision to live in Miami was described by the Cuban authorities as a "defection," to which he added: "I didn't defect, I just moved." It would be nice to see politicians become sensitive to human motivations, without their own loaded interpretations.
