Letter: Why I didn't vote

Sir: Anyone who thinks the list system of proportional representation is fair has no idea what parliamentary democracy is all about. In this country we vote for a person to represent us rather than an ideology decreed by a central office. We do not want to put our cross against a faceless gang of party puppets that could not get elected on their own merits. Proof of this view? Did a Liberal, Labour or Tory candidate in Thursday's Euro-farce knock on your door to explain their own views? Of course not: they don't have any. They're on a party ride.
