First Call

WHEN THE Marx Brothers gatecrashed a party in the Thirties film Animal Crackers, they gave a familiar comic situation a surreal twist. None of the original charm has been lost in this staging, with Ben Keaton, Joe Alessi, Toby Sedgwick and Jean Challis in the classic roles. Written by George Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind, it features lyrics by Bert Kalmer and Harry Ruby, with additional songs by Chris Jordan. Emil Wolk and Gregory Hersov direct.

Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Ave, London W1 (0171-494 5045) from 11 Mar

Last Call

DESPITE THE fluffy blonde hair and ruffle shirts, English singer-songwriter Judie Tzuke (right) must be a tough cookie to have lasted 20 years in the rock business. She is best known as Elton John's protegee and for her hit single "Stay With Me 'till Dawn" in the Seventies, yet since then she has not been idle: all seven of her albums have reached the Top 40.
