IT DOESN'T get any better than this. Our city is today the toast of the soccer world thanks to a team which never gave up and a manager who has inspired a generation of talent. Surely, the title Sir Alex Ferguson cannot be far off. Ten days that shook the soccer world - the Premiership, the FA Cup and, what seemed an impossible dream, the European Cup for an historic treble. Incredible!

BAYERN HAVE had a great season. They won the German championship in the most impressive manner. They are in the domestic cup final and will probably win that. But what will the football fans remember from this fantastic season? Years from now, we shall still be talking about those terrible 120 seconds of Barcelona. Only football can be so cruel.

The Racing Post

TEN YEARS on from when the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays were at their peak, Manchester became Madchester all over again to welcome home treble winners United last night. They sank the Germans to win the European Cup and clinch a treble triumph. No club from Europe's main five domestic competitions had completed the treble before the Reds' strikers popped up to score late, late goals. Bookmakers do not think it will be matched for a good few years.

Die Welt

YES, IT hurts what happened to Bayern. You have one hand on the cup, and then comes that awful man Sheringham and yanks your fingers away. Bayern, representing German football, have lost the most important game of the year.
