Bieber and Lady Gaga win Canada's MuchMusic Awards
At the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada, on June 19, Lady Gaga and Canada's own Justin Bieber both took two trophies with several other artists winning one each.
The MMVA show from the cable/satellite music channel was co-hosted by actress Selena Gomez, who is also Bieber's girlfriend.
Bieber won Favorite Artist for his "Somebody to Love" video, featuring his mentor Usher. The video also shared an award for Best International Canadian Video award with hip hop star Drake and "Find Your Love."
Lady Gaga took Most Popular International Artist in the fan category, while also taking home the Best International Video for "Judas."
Gaga performed another buzz-worthy performance, emerging from a suspended cocoon, a variation on her Grammy egg-hatching entry. Also Canadian pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne performed as did The Black Keys, Bruno Mars, and Colour.
The Video of the Year went to Canadian pop/R&B singer Shawn Desman for "Electric/Night Like This": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DokzpIulRhI
Best Pop Video was won by Toronto-based rap-rock band Down with Webster for "Whoa is Me" and Best Rock Video of the Year was Abandon All Ships for "Geeving."
Best Indie Video went to JDiggz for "This Time," Best Hip Hop Video of the Year went to Classified for "That Ain't Classy" and Fan Favorite was Fefe Dobson for "Stuttering."
International Group Video was presented to Far East Movement, a Los Angeles-based electro-hop act for "Like a G6." The Chinese-American, Filipino, and Korean members' song "Round and Round" was featured in the Fast and Furious soundtrack.
The telecast aired lived on MuchMusic in Canada and music channel Fuse in the US.
