American film director David Lynch, who made Mulholland Drive, Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet, will direct a live-streamed webcast featuring 1980s pop hit makers Duran Duran, on March 23, as part of the "Unstaged" series.

Lynch, best-known for his surrealist films, said, "The idea is to try and create on the fly, layers of images permeating Duran Duran on the stage. A world of experimentation and hopefully some happy accidents."

Previous webcast concerts for Unstaged, a series by YouTube, American Express and VEVO, have featured Arcade Fire (directed by Terry Gilliam), John Legend and the Roots (Spike Lee) and Sugarland (Kenny Ortega).

In 2009, Lynch launched an artistic visual and musical project with Danger Mouse and the late Mark Linkous aka Sparklehorse called Dark Night of the Soul, and he worked with his composer Angelo Badalamenti on Inland Empire, his most recent feature film.

The concert will happen at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles, California, with the four original band members - Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor. Duran Duran recently released its 13th studio album, All You Need Is Now.

Tickets for Duran Duran's performance sold out in less than five minutes.

"We are all such fans of his work and think he has a creative vision like no other," said frontman Le Bon of Lynch. "We all believe this live-streamed performance is going to look nothing like anyone has ever seen before. We can't wait."

It will be streamed live at 10 p.m. ET/7 pm PT at http://www.YouTube.com/DuranDuranVEVO.
