The bells are ringing out loud and clear for Christmas, with seasonal songs playing on the radio, in department stores and at every festive party.

From Mariah Carey’s classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” to the nation’s favourite Christmas song, “Fairytale of New York”, there’s just no escaping the celebratory cheer.

Band Aid 30 are pulling charity strings with a new take on “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” while Sam Smith has covered “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” for those of us wanting a more melancholy soundtrack for present-wrapping.
