Coachella 2013 in pictures - the hippest music festival ever?

The 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival welcomed The Red Hot Chili Peppers, La Roux, Jessie Ware, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Wu-Tang Clan to its stage this year.

Katy Perry, Rita Ora, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Alexa Chung were among a number of celebrities seen chilling in the sun at the festival over the weekend.

Held annually at the Empire Polo Club in the southern California city Indio, Coachella is known for showcasing a range of music genres from rock and indie to hip hop and electronic music.

The crowd looked every bit the hipster part, sporting spandex, round-rimmed sunglasses and silver capes.
