Universal Music has launched a new download site dedicated to music from the big screen.

At www.themusicfrom.com you might expect to find the iconic soundtracks to Trainspotting and Pulp Fiction; the discerning music fan might look for the Juno soundtrack that pushed former Moldy Peaches Kimya Dawson and Adam Green into the mainstream, or hunt for Jonny Greenwood's original orchestral score to There Will Be Blood.

But, alas, a first glance at the titles available among the first 200 releases reveals soundtracks to blockbusters Mamma Mia!, Sex and the City and St Trinian's. Surely if you wanted the current best-sellers you could go to iTunes? Even Garden State, the indie film in which Natalie Portman claimed The Shins would change your life, is missing.

What The Music From is offering exclusively, however, is the six-track digital EP of music from Shane Meadows' coming-of-age drama Somers Town. Dig a little deeper and you'll also find cult classics Shaft and Blade Runner, many of which are being made available digitally for the first time. Another good find is the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, which made Alison Krauss a household name.

Forthcoming releases will include the soundtracks for How to Lose Friends and Alienate People and Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla. A record label's download site is always limited by its own roster, but when the site expands to include soundtracks released on other labels, it will be an excellent resource.

Diesel's radio station, Diesel: U: Music Radio, broadcast via the London airwaves and online, was a success during its month-long licence in May this year, with more than a million listeners tuning in. To coincide with the fashion label's 30th anniversary, they are re-launching the station – to be broadcast from Glasgow at 106.6 FM and online at www. dieselumusicradio.com – for a month, starting next Friday 12 September.

Expect programmes from presenters and artists, specially curated live sessions and in-depth documentaries. They are kicking off with a set from Glasgow's band Errors. The Young Knives will host their own show live in Diesel Radio's London studio, welcoming in special guests for live acoustic sessions and presenting their favourite records old and new. Franz Ferdinand's drummer Paul Thomson will scour his record collection for a one-off show.
