Mick Rock: The man who shot the Seventies

A new exhibition of work by Mick Rock, often referred to as ‘The man who shot the Seventies,’ opens in London tomorrow.

A man whose images defined the rock ‘n’ roll era, Rock shot to fame in 1972 with a portrait of an unknown David Bowie, Rock went onto act as the singer’s official snapper, capturing his Ziggy Stardust alter ego in countless poses.

Rock was also responsible for Queen’s eponymous Queen II album cover, which was recreated for the Bohemian Rhapsody music video.

The show at the Ideageneration Gallery includes iconic portraits of Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Ozzy Osborne, The Ramones and Kate Moss.

The exhibition opening coincides with the publication of Rock’s new book Exposed: the Faces of Rock n’ Roll, which includes previously unseen and unpublished images.
