Music festival of the week: Bestival, Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight
Friday 30 August 2013
Celebration is on the cards as Bestival reaches its 10th birthday bash, cementing its standing as the little festival that could. It's "not all about the music", of course: cabaret, roller-disco, fancy dress and other such larks keep the range lively.
But the line-up still sparkles, with Bestival veteran Fatboy Slim uncorking the champagne alongside the Flaming Lips, Chic feat Nile Rodgers, Franz Ferdinand, the Polyphonic Spree, MIA, the Knife, Snoop Dogg and – bringing more hits than you can shake a glow-stick at and, it's hoped, a clean bill of health after his illness – Elton John popping his UK festival cherry.
